If you like being outdoor you will love New Zealand. There are so many beautiful sights to see and trails to hike. We literally wanted to stop around every corner to take a photograph of the scenery. You might think this is exaggerated but we really were blown away by the beauty and diversity of nature in this relatively small country.
We explored both the South and North island in our spaceships campervan for about a month and saw something amazing every single day. The mysterious Milford Sound, the ridiculously blue Lake Tekapo, the strenuous Tongariro Crossing, the surreal Champagne Pool, the breaching sperm whales in Kaikoura. All highlights from our trip to NZ.
OK, the cities aren’t that great, but if you want to go hiking and enjoy nature then New Zealand is definitely the place to be!
We were amazed by the color of Lake Tekapo and highly recommend hiking the Peninsula Walkway.
Exploring and hiking Mount Cook
The Hooker Valley track leading to Hooker Glacier was one of our favourite hikes in New Zealand.
Yellow-Eyed Penguins at Katiki Point
Don’t leave New Zealand without seeing some of these rare Yellow-Eyed Penguins in the wild.
Cruising mysterious Milford Sound
Take a cruise at Milford Sound to experience this incredible scenery. And don’t forget about the nearby hikes!
Get your adrenaline fix in Queenstown
There is a reason they call it the Adventure Capital of the World. We did our first bungee jump here!
Whale Watching in Kaikoura
We’ll never forget flying over Kaikoura spotting a sperm whale and hundreds of dolphins from the sky.
Hiking the Tongariro Alpine Crossing
Often named the best day hike in NZ, and we definitely understand why. Beautiful sights all around!
Geothermal activity in Rotorua
Feel like you’re on another planet in Rotorua. The geothermal activity makes this a very interesting spot.
