Now that we’ve returned from our (nearly) year-long trip around the world it’s time to set our next goal and surprisingly it involves traveling less. At least for now.
Our Main Goal for 2017
I’ve been working on my own internet business since 2012 and for financial reasons Birthe joined the company when we left on our round the world trip in 2015. When we returned in August 2016 the business was at a level that it could sustain the both of us, if we kept expenses at a minimum. So we did just that and have been living and working at her parents’ place since then.
Our main goal for 2017 is to grow Bootstrapped Ventures to make sure we can both comfortably live of its earnings, replenish the savings we spent during the big trip and eventually find a place of our own here in Belgium.
While it’s possible to work on the road you can get so much more done in a proper (home) office, so that’s where we’ll be spending most of our time in 2017.
Our Travel Plan for 2017
Even though our main focus will be work, we’ll definitely be traveling as well in the new year. We’ll even be combining both and will be visiting at least 3 travel and business related conferences. In March we’ll be attending TBEX Jerusalem and we also booked our tickets for TBEX Europe in Killarney, Ireland, taking place in October. Already looking forward to meeting some fellow travel bloggers!
Another event we’ll be attending is WordCamp Europe in Paris which should be very relevant to our business. It’s been awhile since we visited Paris, so we’d love to combine this with a few days of exploring the city.
Apart from work we’ll also be traveling with some of our best friends and will be revisiting Thailand during the summer. There will be 6 of us exploring Thailand for 3 weeks and then we’ll have another week on our own to discover something new nearby. Myanmar and Indonesia are options, but we’re still undecided.
Bring it on, 2017!
Even though it doesn’t really compare with the traveling we did in the previous years there will still be a lot of places to explore in 2017. We’re also really excited to focus on our business and have tons of ideas to execute on. It will definitely be an interesting year!
