Laos, or Lao PDR (Lao People’s Democratic Republic, or “Lao – please don’t rush”), is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia. With its laid-back atmosphere and beautiful untouched nature, Laos is the perfect country for a hot and relaxing vacation. It’s not yet overrun with tourists like Thailand, but visit now, because it’s slowly getting there.

Large parts of Laos and its small cities are unpaved, but the main road connecting the popular tourist stops, Vientiane (the capital), Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang, is sealed. The best way to get from one city to another is a minivan. For exploring the cities and their surroundings, better hire a motorbike or bicycle.

We weren’t sure what to expect from Laos, but were pleasantly surprised by its gorgeous nature. The mountains and rice paddies surrounding the cities make for lovely scenic bike rides and gorgeous drone shots. Tons of caves and waterfalls are waiting to be explored, and the food is pretty good too! What are you waiting for?

Did you know? It’s said monks outnumber tourists in Laos. For now at least.
